Hiking:
There are numerous walking routes starting from the mill, as well as from nearby villages. We’re happy to provide you with information on the various routes, their routes, their difficulty levels, and our personal favourites.
Canoeing / Kayaking:
There are several leisure centres within a 10-minute drive of the Moulin du Boisset, offering a variety of rafting trips down the Dordogne.

Golf :

Hot-air balloon:
A unique way to explore Rocamadour! Take off from the bottom of the canyon, facing the site. Fly over the houses clinging to the cliff face and the limestone moors.

Caving, rock climbing:
The Causse de Gramat is a paradise for underground adventures, with its numerous caves, chasms, underground rivers and springs. Rock climbing is becoming increasingly popular on more and more cliffs.
Horse riding:
Near the mill, there are several riding centres offering a range of activities.
Fishing:
The Dordogne is full of little spots where you can enjoy your favourite sport.
Cycling:
You can also explore the region’s natural beauty by bike or mountain bike, along roads or hiking trails such as the Way of St James.
If you don’t have a bike, our partner ‘Le Rayon Vert’ can hire you one and deliver it directly to the Moulin (see below).
Animal parks:

Cave and chasm tours:
Of course, there’s the most famous one: the Gouffre de Padirac. A must-see. More info.
But also the Lacave Caves, near the Moulin du Boisset. As well as their many underground lakes and stalactites and stalagmites, they feature a remarkable lighting display. More info.
Castle tours
One is medieval: the Château de Castelnau-Bretenoux, one of the region’s most imposing fortresses. More info.
The other Renaissance gem, the Château de Montal, with its magnificent façade and French formal garden. More info.
Farm tour:
The best-known is the Borie d’Imbert near Rocamadour, where you can watch the goats being milked almost every day and then buy some local produce in the shop. More info.

An incredible and very important collection of reptiles to discover.

Museums:
The Jean Lurçat Museum in Saint-Laurent-les-Tours, the home and studio of the famous tapestry artist, recognised as the leading figure in the revival of tapestry in the 20th century. More info.
The Neanderthal Museum in La Chapelle-aux-Saints. An immersive journey back in time to the discovery of the bones that have shaped our history.
Uxellodunum is the famous stronghold where Gallic troops, including survivors from Alesia, besieged by Julius Caesar’s legions, fought the final battle for Gaul’s independence. It was on the Puy d’Issolud, officially recognised on 26 April 2001 by the Ministry of Culture as Uxellodunum, that these final battles took place.
The Moulin du Boisset is situated 150 metres, as the crow flies, from this historic site, on the very spot where Roman camps were certainly established.
From June to September, the association ‘Les amis d’Uxellodunum’, which manages the site, offers guided tours with fascinating commentary.
A project to create an interpretation centre is currently underway and will eventually allow you to immerse yourself in this pivotal period of our national history. More information.
